i’ve discovered my love of matcha and had to share this recipe i came across for a [dairy free] matcha latte. it is the perfect monday pick-me-up to get some goodness in before a long week.
note: although this recipe is “dairy free”, i do in fact consume dairy but i also enjoy almond milk and it’s nice to have a recipe that can be adapted.
[dairy free] matcha latte*
1 1/2 cups almond milk [could also use cow or coconut milk]
1 teaspoon matcha powder
1 teaspoon coconut oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon maple syrup, honey or stevia [optional]
*this recipe can be made taste, so if you like a sweeter drink, add more maple syrup or try honey. if you want a more rich drink, use 2% cow’s milk and more vanilla. play around with it. you hereby have my permission!
all i did was put everything but the matcha in a microwave safe mug, heated for 2 minutes and then added the matcha. i used hand blender to mix all the ingredients and get that frothy top. i don’t own a milk frother and this seemed to do the job.
i was surprised at how refreshing this latte was! not too sweet with the benefits of some superfood to give you a boost. i think next time i will try with cow’s milk and honey.
